"On August the 31st last year I took my 2007 Triumph Tiger 1050, done 29,000ks, to my Triumph dealer to investigate a rather loud metalic knock in the motor upon cold start, which started at around 20k miles.
To cut a very long story short, the three pistons and liners had deep scores in them and were replaced. I was told that a crook batch of pistons and liners had made their way to the production line early on in the build. The work is being carried out under the Triumph Warranty.
At the time of writing I still haven't got my Tiger back from the Triumph dealer. It is eight months today I have had my bike in the Triumph franchise holders. How bizzare is that.
I even bought another new bike so as to be able to ride through the summer months down here in New Zealand. I have moaned to Triumph NZ and Hinckley. I even wrote a registered letter to John Bloor himself. I have had no replies from any of them. I should have had a new motor in my bike long ago. I am wanting a replacement bike now.
To think I have bought 6 new Trumphs since 2002, and I'm getting treated like this. I will never buy another.
I have a Suzuki GSX1400 - best bike I have had my leg over. As soon as I get the Triumph back it will be sold imediately. I have no confidence in the dealers spanner man that has made cock up after cock up rebuilding this motor and it takes forever to get parts from the factory in Hinckley.
