Τραυματισμός Lascorz

Ο εργοστασιακός αναβάτης της Kawasaki World Superbike, Joan Lascorz διακομίστηκε με ελικόπτερο από το Αutodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari της Imola το μεσημέρι της Δευτέρας. Ο 27χρονος Ισπανός είχε μια πτώση με το Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R κατά τη διάρκεια επίσημης δοκιμής έπειτα από τον αγώνα.

Τα νεότερα ωστόσο αναφέρουν ότι η πρόγνωση δεν είναι καλή. Η πρόσκρουση ήταν ιδιαίτερα σφοδρή, η ταχύτητα του Lascorz σε κείνο το σημείο ήταν περίπου 200 km/h και οι περισσότερες πιθανότητες είναι να μείνει παράλυτος από τη μέση και κάτω.

Ας ελπίσουμε όλα να πάνε καλά.

Update from Kawasaki Racing Team

After a crash during a scheduled testing session at Imola on Monday 2 April, Kawasaki Racing Team rider Joan Lascorz is now continuing his recovery in Spain, at the Valle Hebron hospital in Barcelona.

He is undergoing further checks and treatment for the injuries he suffered to his C6 vertebra.



The 27-year-old Spanish rider had an operation to relocate his vertebra at the Maggiore Hospital in Italy and the final extent of any neurological injuries he may have suffered are not currently clear and will not be fully known until the swelling around the affected area reduces.

All those in the Kawasaki Racing Team and the entire Kawasaki family would like to thank the many people, teams and organisations that have sent messages of support and best wishes to Joan and his loved ones at this difficult time.

Joan Lascorz remains in the Intensive Care Trauma Unit of the Vall d’Hebron hospital in Barcelona.

On the morning of Friday April 6 doctors began to wake Joan Lascorz, but on Saturday decided to sedate him again to keep him asleep. Mucus was still present in the lungs and the fact that Joan was moving a lot, meant that the doctors decided to keep him asleep for another four days until the lungs are completely free of mucus.

Until the doctors wake Joan and the neurologists are able to gather the relevant evidence, the exact extent of the injury and his chances of recovery cannot be established.

Joan’s family, the team and the whole Provec Kawasaki family would like to give their thanks for the thousands of messages of support received and the interest expressed by other riders, friends, media and fans.

The next release from the team will only be issued when there is some up-to-date news about the health of Joan Lascorz.

Meanwhile, from Tuesday 10 April onwards Joan Lascorz’s Facebook profile will carry updates about his situation every morning.

Σε καταστολή παραμένει ο Ισπανός

Μετά την πολύ άσχημη πτώση του στην Imola ο Joan Lascorz της Kawasaki εγχειρίστηκε στο νοσοκομείο Maggiore της Μπολόνια. Δύο μέρες μετά, την περασμένη Τετάρτη, μεταφέρθηκε στο νοσοκομείο, Vall d'Hebron Hospital της Βαρκελώνης. Η διάγνωση ήταν κάταγμα στον 6ο αυχενικό σπόνδυλο και πιθανός τραυματισμός του νωτιαίου μυελού.


Σε προχθεσινή ανακοίνωσή της η ομάδα του Ισπανού, η Kawasaki Provec, ανακοίνωσε ότι ο Lascorz παραμένει στην εντατική και ότι την περασμένη Παρασκευή οι γιατροί δοκίμασαν να τον ξυπνήσουν.

Όμως εξαιτίας των υγρών που υπήρχαν ακόμη στους πνεύμονές του και της γενικότερης ανησυχίας που έδειξε, καθώς προσπαθούσε να κινηθεί, οι γιατροί αποφάσισαν να τον ναρκώσουν και πάλι για τέσσερις μέρες τουλάχιστον. Αν δεν ξυπνήσει, ώστε να διερευνήσουν οι γιατροί την κατάστασή του, δεν μπορεί να γίνει καμία πρόβλεψη για την εξέλιξη της υγείας του.

Απλά η ομάδα εκφράζει τις ευχαριστίες της για όλα τα μηνύματα συμπαράστασης από τον κόσμο και τον Τύπο, και δηλώνει ότι επόμενες ανακοινώσει για τον Lascorz, θα υπάρξουν μόλις αλλάξει κάτι στην κατάστασή του. Στο μεταξύ, από τις 10 Απριλίου θα υπάρχει καθημερινή ενημέρωση μέσω της σελίδας του Joan Lascorz στο Facebook.


Στον αγωνιστικό τομέα τώρα, 8 μέρες μετά το τραγικό ατύχημα η ομάδα Kawasaki WSBK προχώρησε σε διήμερες δοκιμές στην Valencia με μοναδικό αναβάτη τον Tom Sykes. Δεν έχει γίνει κάτι γνωστό για τον αντικαταστάτη του τραυματισμένου Lascorz.

Στην αρχή οι φήμες ήθελαν την επιστροφή του Chris Vermeulen που αγωνίστηκε για την ομάδα το '10 και το '11, όμως αυτό το ενδεχόμενο τελικά απορρίφθηκε. Ο Yanagawa που πέρυσι έτρεξε έκτακτα (σαν wild card) και εξελίσσει στην Ιαπωνία το ZX-10, είναι ήδη 41 ετών και επομένως δεν «παίζει».

Τώρα που το ΖΧ-10 έχει βελτιωθεί τόσο πολύ, χρειάζεται έναν κορυφαίο και ακμαίο αναβάτη δίπλα στον Sykes.

Οι κανονισμοί WSBK επιτρέπουν στην ομάδα να κατεβάσει έναν μόνον οδηγό στον επόμενο αγώνα του Assen (Ολλανδία, 22 Απριλίου), όμως στον μεθεπόμενο της Monza (6 Μαΐου) θα πρέπει να έχει πάλι δύο.

World Superbike star Joan Lascorz's prospects of 'regaining mobility' being assessed by doctors

Kawasaki Provec Racing's Joan Lascorz is still being evaluated by doctors regarding his chances of 'gaining mobility' following a serious accident at Imola.

Lascorz remains in the Intensive Care unit at the Vall d'Hebron Hospital in Barcelona after falling during the official World Superbike test at the Italian circuit following the second round of the championship on April 2.

The Spaniard suffered damage to the C6 vertebra and underwent a 'lengthy and delicate' operation to reposition his spine at Bologna's Maggiore Hospital before being transferred to hospital in Spain.

The has been much speculation since the accident over his condition, but an article on the official World Superbike website appears to be the first formal admission that the Kawasaki rider could be paralysed as a result of his injuries.

The article states: 'With doctors still evaluating the situation regarding the possibility of Lascorz recovering his mobility, a press release was issued by the Provec Racing team yesterday [Wednesday] saying that vital support systems would be removed today [Thursday] to allow the Spanish rider to breathe autonomously.'

On Wednesday, a statement released by Kawasaki Provec Racing said the full extent of Lascorz's injuries could not be assessed until he is woken from an induced coma.

“Until the doctors wake Joan and the neurologists are able to gather the relevant evidence, the exact extent of the injury and his chances of recovery cannot be established,” said the statement.

Σύμφωνα με πρόσφατη ανακοίνωση της Kawasaki Provec Racing, σχετικά με την κατάσταση της υγείας του Joan Lascorz, ο άτυχος Ισπανός οδηγός αναπνέει τώρα χωρίς καμία υποστήριξη και είναι σε θέση να επικοινωνεί με φίλους και μέλη της οικογένειάς του. Παράλληλα, ο Lascorz βγήκε από την μονάδα εντατικής θεραπείας και για την ώρα είναι στο τμήμα σπονδυλικής στήλης του νοσοκομείου της Βαρκελώνης.

Σύντομα ο Ισπανός θα μεταφερθεί σε ινστιτούτο έξω από την Βαρκελώνη, ένα ειδικό κέντρο για αποκατάσταση των νεύρων, ώστε να ξεκινήσει η μακρόχρονη και δύσκολη διαδικασία ανάρρωσης...

'Improving' Lascorz transferred out of intensive care

Injured Kawasaki World Superbike star Joan Lascorz has made such a marked recent improvement in his recovery, he has been taken off a ventilator and tranferred out of intensive care.



The Spaniard, who was badly injured in an Imola testing crash, is now fully awake and can speak without any problems. He is now in the Vall d'Hebron Hospital's Spinal Cord Unit to undergo further assessment and treatment.

"It is expected that if Joan is progressing well enough in the coming days he will be transferred to the Institute Guttmann for a quick start to his recovery process," said a team spokesman.

"Joan, his family and the team again want to offer thanks for all the support and care they are receiving and especially to recognize the hard work being done by the many doctors, nurses and health professionals who are working on Joan’s recovery.

"Also, we want to offer special thanks for the outpouring of support that was evident at the Assen circuit during the most recent SBK round, where all the pilots wanted to show their support for Joan, and for the dedication of the two race wins taken by Jonathan Rea and Sylvain Guintoli."

Έχουν περάσει σχεδόν τρεις μήνες από το φριχτό ατύχημα του Lascorz, κατά την διάρκεια των δοκιμών στην Imola, κι εδώ μπορείτε να δείτε μια πρώτη φωτογραφία του Ισπανού αναβάτη, παρέα με τον Albert Llovera, οδηγό αγώνων ράλλυ ο οποίος είχε ένα ατύχημα κατά την συμμετοχή του στο Ευρωπαϊκό Πρωτάθλημα Σκι που τον άφησε – μόλις στα 18 του – παραπληγικό…

Ο Lascorz είναι στο Ινστιτούτο Guttmann από τις 14 Μαΐου για αποκατάσταση, αφού νοσηλεύθηκε επί 20 ημέρες στα νοσοκομείο La Valles. O Ισπανός έχει ανακτήσει κινητικότητα στα άνω άκρα – όπως φαίνεται κι από την φωτογραφία – ωστόσο δεν έχει ακόμη αίσθηση στα κάτω άκρα και θα συνεχίσει ακόμα για 3-4 μήνες φυσιοθεραπεία…

«Είμαι εδώ με ένα από τα φιλαράκια μου στην “Oμάδα Guttmann”, τον Joan Lascorz… πριν μερικές ημέρες τον επισκέφθηκα στο δωμάτιό του και τώρα με επισκέπτεται όλη την εβδομάδα. Την μια ημέρα είμαστε στα ουράνια και την επομένη… δεν ξέρουμε… Ας ευχαριστηθούμε την κάθε ημέρα και την κάθε στιγμή!», σχολίασε ο Llovera ο οποίος δημοσίευσε την παραπάνω φωτογραφία (σημείωση: η εν λόγω φωτο είναι στο προηγούμενο ποστ) στην σελίδα του στο Facebook.

Lascorz says he will grit his teeth and get on with life

Kawasaki star Joan Lascorz has spoken for the first time about the Imola World Superbike testing crash that has left him as a wheel-chair user, saying it was disgraceful but he will now grit his teeth and get on with his life.

Lascorz has no mobility in his legs, fingers and abdominal area but has sensitivity in the hands, face, neck, arms, shoulders, elbows and wrists. Mentally, he is fully functional and will leave the Guttmann Institute in the middle of next month to begin a new life.

"Well, what happened to me was a disgrace. I do not know if it is due to an unfortunate incident, or the fact that the standards of Imola are not suitable for running on a motorcycle with 240 horsepower. In any case it is certainly a turning point in my racing career and my life. It 's a very difficult situation, I have to grit my teeth to keep going," said the Spaniard.

"I wish to thank all the people who have been close in recent months: all pilots Superbike, MotoGP and all categories, as well as Albert Llovera, Filippo Preziosi, Oscar Lanza, Isidre Esteve, Pau Bach who came to visit me in this period. I am grateful to the doctors Superbike, Ospedale Maggiore in Bologna, Vall d'Hebron Institute and Guttmann: I was treated like a King! Thanks also to the Catalan and Spanish Motorcycle Federation for their support, but also a infinite thanks to my family, my father Juan who spent some terrifying, almost worse than me, as my mother Maribel, my brothers, sisters, cousins, friends and the guys.

"Once I leave the Guttmann Institute, will begin a new life for me. I'll have to rethink everything, look for financial resources to move forward because the situation is not easy. I'll have to set new goals to continue to enjoy life, although not with the same intensity as ever.

"Sometimes I feel a deep sense of sadness for what happened to me: because of a wall, everything changed. Sometimes, however, I try to think to the future with confidence and optimism: it was not easy for me to reach certain goals, I started running 18 years with a 50cc and I got to run a professional. It 'an injustice, really very sad, but now we have to find a solution. This injury will not only keep me forever away from the races, but deeply marked my life.

"In this difficult time I have been around so many people. I was surprised to see riders like Rossi, Dovizioso, Crutchlow, Hayden, Pedrosa, Yonny Hernandez, Lorenzo, many if not all the MotoGP riders interested in me, as well as Marquez, Espargaro, Rabat, Rins... I'll never forget that were made some 10,000 stickers in my support, brought a little bit from all of the Superbike riders as Checa, Haslam, Smrz, Sykes, Baz, Biaggi, Rea, Melandri, Salom...

"Some teams, like BMW, have placed even in front fairing the bike. I also thank Sofuoglu, Morais, all Kawasaki Superstock 1000 and 600, as well as Katsuaki Fujiwara and Akira Yanagawa who ride with Kawasaki in Japan, Honda Italy, Easyrace, many drivers of the CEV, the MotorLand Aragon, the magazine Solo Moto, the 'initiative Motocard.com. All the media are interested in me even though I have not spoken in months: I really thank everyone, I am very proud of my career and to have met wonderful people."
